Kansas City Leads 2026 World Cup Airbnb Costs at Nearly $540/Night

A recent study by Rustic Pathways has unveiled the average Airbnb prices for all 16 cities hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup, exposing stark differences in accommodation costs.

Kansas City, Missouri, has been identified as the most expensive location for travelers, boasting an average nightly Airbnb rate of a staggering $539.95. This price point is almost six times higher than the most affordable city in the tournament.

Following Kansas City, Vancouver, Canada, ranks as the second priciest destination, with an average nightly cost of $461.52. This highlights a trend of higher accommodation expenses in North American host cities compared to their Mexican counterparts.

Conversely, Mexico presents the most budget-friendly options for World Cup attendees. Guadalajara stands out as the best value, with an average nightly rate of just $89.06. Mexico City and Monterrey also feature among the cheapest accommodation choices.

The overall average Airbnb cost across all 16 host cities for the 2026 World Cup is calculated to be $228.21 per night. This figure provides a benchmark against which individual city prices can be compared.

The study's findings suggest that while Mexican cities offer considerably lower prices, Canadian and U.S. host cities generally exceed the tournament's average accommodation cost. It's also noted that larger U.S. cities might be better equipped to handle the influx of visitors due to a higher number of available vacancies, potentially moderating extreme price hikes.
