Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has publicly confirmed the end of his relationship with Love Island presenter Maya Jama.
In a strong statement released via Instagram, Dias vehemently denied widespread rumours that infidelity was the cause of their split. He explained that the persistent speculation had become unbearable, reaching a point where his 85-year-old grandfather questioned him about the allegations after seeing them repeatedly in the news.
Dias emphasized that his relationship with Maya was built on mutual respect and that no lines were crossed. He stated clearly, "I didn't cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to," and stressed that Maya deserves the utmost respect.
The reasons for their breakup are private, but Dias felt compelled to speak out against the false narratives and clickbait that misrepresented the situation. He urged respect for both himself and Maya, highlighting that not all relationship endings involve betrayal.
This public intervention is unusual for Dias, who typically keeps his personal life private. The couple's relationship, which began in late 2024 and was confirmed in April 2025, reportedly ended after they removed each other's photos from social media in mid-May.
Dias is now set to refocus on his football career with Manchester City and upcoming international duties with Portugal for the 2026 World Cup.
