Everton icon Peter Reid has shared his positive views on Manchester City's Jack Grealish, describing the player's willingness to be seen enjoying a 'pint' as 'quite refreshing' in today's often curated celebrity landscape.
Reid, in an interview with GOAL, not only lauded Grealish's down-to-earth public image but also voiced a strong hope for the winger's potential return to Merseyside this summer. Grealish previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at Everton during the 2025-26 season, where he was recognized as the Premier League Player of the Month for August. However, his campaign was unfortunately curtailed by a foot injury in January, which also impacted his chances of featuring in the World Cup.
Despite Grealish approaching his 31st birthday in September and Manchester City reportedly setting a £50 million transfer fee, which Reid considers steep, the former Everton midfielder remains optimistic about a potential transfer. He believes a deal could materialize, particularly if Grealish does not feature prominently in the plans of new City manager Enzo Maresca.
Furthermore, Reid suggested that Grealish's tactical versatility could see him excel in a different role. He proposed that the winger might be an effective option playing as a number 10, a more central playmaking position, adding another layer to his potential appeal.
The discussion also extended to other Everton players, with Reid offering praise for the contributions of Iliman Ndiaye and James Garner, showcasing his continued engagement with the current squad's performance and potential.
