Rangers Bid for Wrexham Star Josh Windass Amidst Contractual Stalemate

Scottish giants Rangers have reportedly reignited their pursuit of Wrexham's prolific goalscorer, Josh Windass, submitting a new transfer bid.

This latest offer represents the third attempt by Rangers to lure the 32-year-old forward back to Ibrox. Windass enjoyed a previous spell with the Gers from 2016 to 2018, and notably, he also played under the current Rangers manager, Danny Rohl, during their time together at Sheffield Wednesday.

Despite the persistent interest from Rangers and a prior bid that was rejected in January, Windass has remained steadfast in his commitment to Wrexham's ongoing project. He inked a new three-year contract with the Welsh club last summer, publicly stating his ambition to continue his development and contribute to their success.

Wrexham, who successfully fended off Rangers' January advances, find themselves in a strong negotiating position. Windass is tied to the club until 2028, a testament to his importance and recent form. His stellar performance in the Championship this past season, where he netted an impressive 16 goals, further solidifies his value.

This pursuit of Windass is part of Rangers' broader strategy to bolster their attacking options. The club is also understood to be monitoring the situation of Hearts forward Lawrence Shankland as they look to enhance their squad following a third-place finish in the Scottish Premiership.
